I spy a double dipping identity here.
So which is it are you an Arizona girl or a California girl?
There is only one right answer on this one, but you are going to have to be clever about it. :)
I'm a 100% Cali-zona girl. They just haven't written a song for us yet ;)

I absolutely love that you included California Love by Tupac! The other day, Miranda and I got into a debate about California Girls trying to refute Empire State of Mind; but, failing really bad. Because honestly ESoM is the collaboration of the decade. Plus, California Girls completely suggests some very mal things about Kali Girls. I'm a Bay girl. When have I ever seen daisy dukes and sun-kissed chicks in jeeps melting popsicles? haha. That was when Miranda said to California Girls is hardly a comparison to California Love.
Now if we put California Love (Dr. Dre & Tupac) versus Empire State of Mind (Jay-z & Alicia Keys), who'd win out? Personally, California Love does it better; but, ESoM is a close second. I love them both.
Thank you for this playlist. ;) They're always so fun to create and share.
What a massive match-up that would be. California Love vs. Empire State of Mind vs Californa Gurls. Being originally from the Bay I would agree that it's not really a song for the Bay since I honestly can't remember Daisy Dukes either. But living on and off in San Diego for 3 years it's definitely true for SoCal.
I see Miranda's point that Cali Love and Cali Gurls can't really be compared, but here's my reasoning: Cali Gurls makes non-Cali girls want to live in Cali, whereas Cali Love makes people already living in Cali love living in Cali more. Like Cali Gurls is advertising and Cali Love is an anthem.
I agree with you, Empire State of Mind is TOTALLY the collab of the decade. Mainly because it holds the attitude of NY while also shouting out all the sites of NY. It works as both an anthem and and an ad. So...
For me, ESoM wins artistically but Cali Love does a better job with the number of artists and capturing the joy and love of what Cali is, without the need to advertise because, well, Cali doesn't need it. Great idea to match them up!
